How To Find United States Marriage Records
In the United States, marriage records are maintained and issued through health or vital statistics departments or county courts depending on the state. The type of marriage record will also determine where it will be found within a particular state. Some types of marriage records, such as a certified certificate, provide legal proof of a wedded union. Other types, such as the Record of Marriage, are only considered legal proof in some states. By American law, all states must charge a small fee for conducting a search on this information. Online, government-issued facilities for this purpose is widely popular today, but only a trusted record provider's website should be used.
