Give Good Friday its correct name

THE report (Evening Post, February 16) of the rescheduling of the Notts Forest v City match from Easter Friday (April 6) has bamboozled me.

April 6 is Good Friday. Easter Friday (April 13) like Easter Monday is in the week commenced by Easter Sunday (April 8). Many, who should know better, will also describe Holy Saturday (April 7) as Easter Saturday, which actually falls on April 14.

Is this simply ignorance or an attempt to expunge key Christian dates from the calendar? Easter starts with the resurrection of Christ. Good Friday is the last day of the old order and Holy Saturday is the intermission between the two.
