Bouquets of flowers have been left at the scene of the tragedy in Saltford, including a poignant one from Aaron's father.
The card read: "My beautiful 1st born son. Always acting the fool! Chip off the old block! Missing you loads. See u when I get there. Dad x."
A group of his schoolfriends and fellow members of Cadbury Heath Youth Club arrived at the riverside this afternoon to light candles and leave messages and flowers.
One of them was his best friend Connor Wiltshire, also 14, who was with him at the time of the accident and tried to save him.
He said: "I can't really think straight. I'm really going to miss him. He was always round my house for tea and stuff like that and I would go out with him every day.
"He was a great friend and a really good person."
Meanwhile Aaron's school Sir Bernard Lovell in Oldland Common has paid tribute to him and offered support to his fellow students.
Head teacher David Turrell said: "We are deeply sorry to hear of such an awful tragedy. Our thoughts at the moment, are with family and friends.
"Aaron was a very enthusiastic, popular, happy-go-lucky boy who will be deeply missed at the school."
A tribute page has also been set up on Facebook and contains messages from friends.
